| Islamorada offers some good Snook fishing, they are found from central Florida to the Keys.
They are an inshore fish basically but they do go into the ocean at times moving along the shoreline.
The average size is 6 to 7 pounds and good eating also.
You find them around bridges, sea walls mangroves, pilings just about any structure.
Sometimes they can try your patience when they get "LOCKJAW" [ won't bite} but worth it in the end.
They eat Shrimp,Pilchards,Pinfish and a multitude of artificial lures or combinations of live and dead bait.
When hooked they make long hard runs and will jump out of the water all in an effort to cut you off on something.
A net is best method for landing them, watch the sharp edges on their gill plates as they will cut your hands badly.
Snook are prized not only for their fight but for their fine delicate taste, they are a white meat fish that you will never find on a restaurant menu because the are a Florida game fish.
